Late on a Friday afternoon, strains
of Bach pour out of a practice room at the Jeung Dong Art School fine arts
academy. In South Korea, as in other countries strongly influenced by Confucianism,
people are serious about education -- particularly classical education.
Children are required to study hard and often pressed into as many lessons
as parents can afford. The result -- and one of the country's strong points
-- is a highly trained and disciplined work force. Now, the challenge will
be to combine the discipline with new and creative solutions to Korea's
most
pressing problems.
